My Artistic Style is influenced by Contemporary, Abstract, Modernism, Expressionism, Impressionism, Collage and the Rhythm and Flow of Nature.
Alberto Giacomettii stated that, "The object of art is not to reproduce reality, but to create a reality of the same intensity."
My early paintings were based on aerial mapping and photographs taken from airplanes and satellite imagery, depicting or evoking the appearance of a landscape from a perspective above it.
In recent years I have been working on paintings and drawings reflecting my love for water and the patterns and rhythms created by movement. Water and it's unceasing movement is constantly fascinating to me, and as a painter it has become a rich source of imagery. Nature has been a source of inspiration, I am looking for different angles that catch my imagination. I have tried to catch that fleeting moment in time. Though I take my inspiration from nature I am not making a picture of things, but distilling the essence of the moment.
My work is intuitive in that I am essentially concerned with mark making, surface, texture, color, line and movement. I work in acrylics and pencils, using collage elements and drawing as a means of developing the space within the piece. Many of my paintings and drawings are based on photographs I have taken. I have always created images that blur the horizon line. The paintings have intern looked as though you are viewing them from above or from an oblique angle, this allows me to broaden my palette creating images of vibrant color and movement for the observer.
